An exquisite nineteenth-century retail arcade, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is frequently referred to as 'il salotto di Milano' (Milan's drawing parlor). Some of Milan's most opulent stores are located there.

Two Latin cross-shaped arcades make up the building, erected between 1865 and 1877, and are topped by an iron and glass dome.

Il Duomo and Teatro Alla Scala, two of Milan's most prominent landmarks, are situated between the arcade and the Galleria.

How to explore Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II?

  • The building comprises two glass-vaulted arcades that cross like an octagon and cover the roadway between Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Della Scala.
  • Along with other upscale retailers, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II has names like Prada, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton.
  • It also has many tastefully furnished restaurants, including some of Milan's oldest eateries like the 1867-founded Café Biffi.
  • Unexpectedly, there is a McDonald's just next to the Gallery. In contrast with the other businesses, the fast food restaurant is tastefully furnished with black columns and gold accents. In addition, it features a cozy patio where you can relax and sip a cheap beverage while admiring the ambiance and beauty of this magnificent structure.
  • The beautiful mosaic that depicts the continents of Asia, Africa, Europe, and America may be seen on the central dome if you stroll around the galleries.
  • A mosaic with the Savoy coat of arms and several animals can be found beneath the central dome. Local folklore states that stepping on the bull with your right foot and turning 360 degrees while keeping your eyes closed will bring you luck. So on December 31 at midnight, -if you tread on the bull, you will be lucky for a whole year.
