Al-Mubarakiya has developed into a vibrant fashion, culture, and the arts center. A souk is a typical open-air bazaar in the Arab culture, and they serve as a social gathering place and market where things are bought and sold.

From the furnishings to how commerce is done, the market has an antique feel. In addition to antiques, one may also find groceries like fruits, vegetables, and fish and standard household items like apparel and other things.

You can spend hours browsing this market and finding fantastic deals on antiques from the Arab world, Persian silk rugs, oud and musk perfumes, and traditional clothing. THINGS TO DO AT AL MUBARAKIYA: • SOMU Plaza Souk Al-new Mubarakiya's 'ancient' neighborhood, known as South Mubarakiya (SOMU), is identified by the recently refurbished SOMU Square or Thouq Square.

Thanks to the idea of Ahmad Al-Ghanim and Bader Al Hejailan, who wanted to give the neighborhood new life, SOMU, located behind the Al Fares Mosque, was created from the debris and closed shops in the area. • Thouq, a concept store, is a physical representation of what the partners stand for: The place is a hub of artistic expression and is devoted to displaying talent from Kuwait and the surrounding area, with new products and innovative ideas arriving every week. While you're here, don't miss the chance to visit the largest mural in the Gulf, located right in the middle of SOMU.

The artwork, a tribute to Kuwait created by the Thouq team, spans two parallel walls. • At some of Thouq's top eateries, treat yourself to delectable meals. The majority have indoor and outdoor seating areas, so a visit does not depend on the season. • You can look through the stalls here to find Persian carpets, traditional clothing, and Arabic antiques.

If you're shopping for souvenirs to bring home, keep an eye out for jewelry, scarves, clothing, handmade local crafts, perfumes, and more.

Along with stores specializing in eye-catching gold and silver, you'll also discover stores selling dates, spices, honey, and aromatic oils. • This location is ideal if you want to eat: Near Al-Bahar or Sea Mosque, there is a courtyard where you can find traditional cafes brewing their teas over coals and other tiny restaurants serving customers authentic Arabic, Indian, and Persian food outdoors. • Explore the neighborhood: The first Islamic pharmacy in Kuwait and Sheikh Mubarak Kiosk are both miniature museums located within the market and open to the public.
