Unity Park

One of Addis Ababa's beautification initiatives is Ethiopia's, Unity Park.

Abiy Ahmed, the prime minister of Ethiopia, invested five billion Ethiopian Birr in the Unity Park project, which opened to the public in October 2019.

The National Grand Palace's 20 hectares were used to create the unity park. It also offers a chance to learn from historical occasions, cultural ideals, and natural gifts.

Natural, cultural, historical, and heritage tourism attractions can all be found in Ethiopia's Unity Park.

THINGS TO DO AT UNITY PARK:

• Admire the wealth of nature's bounty:

The distinct natural attractions of Unity Park include zoos with 37 mammals and nine different animal species, including giraffes, zebras, impalas, kudus, elands, gemsboks, wildebeests, and white rhinos, as well as thirteen other aquatic species and native birds in an aviary. Ethiopia is the only place where you can find Black Mane Lions.

The traditional Garden of native plants in Unity Park is another natural attraction.

• Deep dive into history as you browse the antiquities:

Historical artifacts demonstrate the level of an ancient civilization in addition to establishing the presence of specific items in a palace. The historical artifacts of the National Palace are traditional and hand-made furniture, modern telecommunication equipment, vehicles, and a photo gallery of notable world leaders.

The palace's artifacts are all unique objects. For instance, gold was used to make sculptures, jewelry, book covers, and photo frames.

Books written in the Amharic, English, and Geez languages are included among the historical artifacts. These books are ancient and still useful for research and education, and future generations are also taught history.

• Get insights into the social, political, and civic development by way of installations:

The park's sculptures show Ethiopian nationalities' culture, civilization, and strength in various ways. Mud, stone, and wood are used to create sculptures. Additionally, the hand-made sculptures display works of art from Ethiopia.
